Spot on about the pendants! I loved the mystery of knowing that a half-pendant was hidden in a random temple room (when the winning team had 1.5 pendants) and trying to guess if the kid would find it before being caught by a guard. Now I wouldn't go on this embarrassing, idiotic reboot even if they paid me! Also, same-sex teams of adults, seriously? There's a scientific reason why team/doubles sports like tennis aren't 2 men versus 2 women! It was much more fair when teams were mixed-sex back then. In the old days I could identify with the kid contestants so easily and dreamed of being in their shoes.

I was so ticked off by the contestants' over-acting, weirdly dramatic body language, disgustingly artificial behavior, etc. You 100% hit upon the exact things that were going through my head as I watched the first episode (and I'm not going to watch any more either). I completely agree with each and every line of your comment. Worst of all, THEY CUT TO A COMMERICAL DURING THE TEMPLE RUN!. The new Temple (which I believe by definition isnt even a Temple anymore since the show is outdoors) has some cool puzzle rooms but again when you know they cant lose why should we care about the Temple guards? Which, okay that ridiculous cut to a pre-recorded jump scare video of the guards making silly faces at the camera is not necessary at all. In the reboot you go in with two pendants no matter what so right there all tension is lost in the temple run because there is no way to lose by being caught without a pendant. This meant that you had situations where contestants would go into into the Temple with one or one and a half pendants.

In the original show the first two events were for a half pendant, the last game was for a full pendant.

The biggest problem I had was with how the temple games give pendants. Not to mention that the first episode had some of the most unlikable obnoxious contestants ever. I absolutely FUCKING HATE how every competition show now has to be a reality show where they cut to interviews during the events and everyone has to have some kind of sob story.

It does nothing to capture the look or feel of the original show except for Olmec being there. Watched the first episode of the reboot and havent seen the others. I was so excited about this when it was announced. It's literally the only thing stopping me from continuing to watch upcoming episodes.įans of the original Legends of the Hidden Temple - 90s kids especially - what do you think? Sorry for the long rant, just needed to share my thoughts.ĮDIT: Also, can anyone comment on the quality of the videos of original (Nickelodeon) Legends episodes on Dailymotion (free) vs Paramount+ (subscription)? If the Paramount+ ones are higher quality, I will consider getting a subscription for old times' sake! Like seriously, introducing the players at the start and letting them talk a bit about their backgrounds is fine (adds a personal touch, but not too much), but interspersing their edited-in talking scenes with the main live action of the games adds zero value and is so annoying! It's just a filler to extend the show to 1 hour instead of 30 min! I would love to see some edited episodes with all the filler talking cut out. I watched the first new reboot episode ( ) and enjoyed the nostalgia, but honestly I gotta say all the cutting back and forth between the real action and separately-filmed clips of the contestants talking (mostly distracting garbage, artificially commentating on their own performance) was terrible and took away from the focused thrill of the games. The original Nickelodeon Legends of the Hidden Temple was my favorite show as a kid, so you can imagine how excited I was when I heard new episodes - now involving adult contestants - would be aired starting this month.
